In Disney's Animated movie, Beauty and the Beast there was an Enhantress who came to the castle for shelter in disguise with a girft (a rose), but was refused by the Prince. The Enchantress than revealed her true self and cursed the prince, turing him into a beast.

For a while I've been speculating the notion of Aurora actually being the enchantress. Sleeping Beauty takes place in the 14th century. Perhaps after her death she became an enchantress as a reward for her kindness.
